Our next superwoman who kindly agreed to share her entrepreneurial adventure with us is Jade Gandey, Social Media Marketing Creative Expert, founder of With Love From Ibiza and a proud mum.

Jade has over 12 years experience in the digital marketing industry. She has built creative campaigns and worked with artists such as Grace Jones, Hannah Montana and Paloma Faith throughout her career. She is a firm believer that great web content can build, connect and engage any target market. She made Ibiza her permanent home 7 years ago.

What originally brought you to Ibiza?

I first came here with my ex husband who was a DJ. He came here a lot but I never joined him as I had the misconception that Ibiza was nothing more than a clubbing experience. Then one weekend I joined him and was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful Ibiza was. When my husband and  I separated we were living in France, I decided rather than return to the UK I would move to Ibiza. That was 7 years ago and I am still here.

Was it a conscious business decision to start your enterprise on the island?

I already had a successful digital marketing business in the UK and my clients were used to me living in France so the transition to Ibiza was smooth, I had some big name clients which made it easy opening doors in Ibiza so growing my business here was a simple process.

Can you tell us a little bit more on how your company began?

My company began when I was 26, so 14 years ago I set up my own business to work in digital marketing. I gave up a great job with lot of business trips to New York to go out on my own and so digital marketing. To put it into perspective Facebook, Twitter and Instagram did not exist! So my first clients were all on Myspace and Bebo. I started running my ex husbands social pages and the success of that resulted in me working with artists like Grace Jones, Hannah Montana and Paloma Faith. It was not until much later it became acceptable for businesses to use social media and then a whole new chapter of my business opened and I moved into more social channels and online marketing on a broader scale.

What was your dream job as a kid?

I really wanted to be a primary teacher, I loved the idea of supporting kids learning and discovering at such a young age but being dyslexic meant I could not get the right grades which turned out to be a huge blessing as it forced me to be an entrepreneur.

What woman inspires you and why?

Iris Apfel inspires me, I really believe that retirement is not something to aspire too, as without purpose what is there to live for? There is some incredible research on blue zones (where people live the longest) and those people just keep on working without a retirement goal. I look at Iris Apfel, also known as the granny of fashion, and I see such confidence, non-conformity and passion. She travels the world attending events, lectures and fashion shoots at 95 years old! I see photos of her and she reminds me that if you create work you love, it will inspire you and keep you young.

What do you think are the most important qualities of a female leader?

Honesty, perseverance, vision, softness, confidence, generosity.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

Sharing knowledge and empowering people.

What advice would you give to young women planning to start their own business?

Read, read everything you can! Read business books, motivation books, positive psychology books and don’t be afraid to ask people who are more successful than you for advice.

What is your secret to success?

Adaptability, perseverance and if I don’t know how to do something I learn it!

What is your personal favourite spot on the island where you spend time when not working?

The hills of Ibiza, normally off the beaten track. I love hiking so if I am not working or being a mum then I can be found in hiking boots on exploring new routes. It’s a great time for thinking, reflecting and planning.
