Let’s be honest – Ibiza is a very romantic place! You can’t help falling in love on – and with – this island. As Monday was National Proposal Day in the good ol’ US of A, we thought: ‘Why should they get their own day and we don’t?’ – So we’ve decided to name TODAY National Proposal Day of Ibiza! In its honour, we would like to share three of our favourite proposal stories from a few of our very dear clients – and one very own Deliciously Sorted member…

Laura and Mark

Laura and Mark got married in Ibiza back in 2015 and it was one of our all time favourite weddings to plan. The intricate detail and design, inspired by Laura’s creative fashion background, made this wedding one of the most beautiful events on the island that year.

Laura shares with us the story of how Mark proposed to her:

“Neither my husband or I are big into public displays of affection so I knew the proposal was never going to be in the middle of a restaurant. One Saturday morning I was just waking up and realised he wasn’t in the bed next to me. I remember he was so excited when I woke up but I didn’t think anything of it at the time. And just like that whilst I was still in bed he got down on one knee and proposed in the most intimate private setting. I wish you knew to record those moments because you are so excited and taken aback and shocked and happy that you forget all the little details. He had designed a bespoke engagement ring that contained so many incredible details including a ruby on the inside that symbolised the month of July which is the month we started dating. Ever since I was a little girl I had thought about marrying in this church in Helsinki (where my parents are originally from) and the ring even contained engravings of the pattern that is on the ceiling of that church. He then whisked me away to our favourite hotel in he English countryside which was the most perfect way to celebrate our engagement.”

Henry and Lucy

Henry and Lucy tied the knot in Ibiza last year, 2016, and it was truly a wedding we will never forget. They celebrated with their closest family and friends over a period of 5 days (!), each event was unique and incorporated the couple’s quirky and creative personalities in every element throughout the weekend.

Henry tells us how he proposed to Lucy:

“We got engaged at Glastonbury festival in Somerset in 2015. We set off to the flooded plains of the West Country on the Thursday afternoon with a group of friends and various brothers and sisters from both sides.  Obviously Lucy had no idea at that stage what I had planned, neither did anyone else in the group, but the plan was in motion. Being a bloke I had thought about it in the big picture but not in the detail, and as I was driving down there on the Thursday afternoon, ring firmly embedded in jacket pocket, I got into a panic as to how I was actually going to engineer a situation where I could propose. I knew Luce would not want me to propose in front of everyone else, neither did I for that matter just in case the answer wasn’t what I wanted, and we were on our way to a field with 200,000 people in it, so where was I going to find a quiet corner? As it happened everything worked out perfectly. We both woke up early on the Friday morning and I suggested we get up and go for breakfast, just the two of us, before the rest of the gang were up. We walked up to the top of the hill overlooking the whole festival site and, after a bit of a last minute wobble on my behalf, I stumbled onto one knee and asked her to marry me. The following 2 days are a bit of a blur but it was an amazing way to start married life together surrounded by friends and family in a muddy field in the West Country.”

Ceri and Rob

Don’t say we didn’t warn you – it’s a tear jerker! We love this story so much, possibly because it is a little bit of our very own Delicious proposal. Ceri, one of Deliciously Sorted’s senior team members, married her Rob in 2010 in an intimate setting in the north of the island.

Ceri recalls the day when Rob proposed to her:

“In 2009, Rob was offered a construction project in Sri Lanka for a couple of months, and I decided to go with him. It had been a busy couple of weeks for him, and we finally had a day to ourselves to spend together exploring the city. He took me to a beautiful old colonial hotel in Colombo and, pretending we were just looking around, we asked to see some of the rooms as we potentially wanted to stay there in the future. After having walked around for a bit, we were shown one of the master suites of the hotel which was located on the top floor with stunning views of the ocean. I walked inside and there was champagne and a huge sign that said ‘Will You Marry Me’. I thought that the hotel had organised it for the couple arriving that day, but when I turned around I saw Rob kneeling down with a ring in his hand. I of course said yes!”

Whether you are looking to get married, or propose to that special someone, we can help you make it a memorable day. Rose petals, champagne, flamenco guitarists serenading a private dinner for two – no request is too ordinary or too extraordinary.

Until next time!
