To some, Ibiza’s name is perhaps one that represents a world of partying, clubbing and daytime drinking. However, us locals know the real Ibiza, one of beautiful beaches, ravishing restaurants and A-star accommodation and through this blog we hope to unveil the true authentic Ibiza and the best spots on the island to have a gorgeous local experience on one of the best places on the planet! Read on to find out more…

RESTAURANTS:

BAR COSTA

Bar Costa is undoubtedly one of the most classic and local spots on the island. This lovely spot resides in the square of the sweet town of Santa Gertrudis in front of the local church. Having been famous for its fashionable ham sandwiches with toast and tomato since the 70’s, this tradition continues and we would highly recommend ordering this with a coffee and watching the world go by – our favourite way to start the morning rain or shine!

ES BOLDADO

Es Boldado is a special restaurant for many reasons, particularly with regard to its spectacular views over one of the islands top features – the mystical Es Vedra. Situated on (quite literally) the edge of Cala D’Hort, this is the ideal place for a lazy afternoon lunch overlooking the Mediterranean with sangria in hand! We would particularly recommend ordering the classic Spanish dish of Paella here as it is widely considered the best on the island.

BALAFIA

Balafia is a down-to-the core authentic Ibiza restaurant and is recognised by locals for having the best lamb chops, steak and tomato salad all year around. The simple decor and family atmosphere of this spot is what makes it such a gem, managed by the same family for over 30 years these guys have really cracked the code to what an authentic Ibiza restaurant should be. For the best experience, we suggest sitting on the charming terrace under the stars…

BEACHES:

BENIRRAS

Set on the island’s northwest coast, Benirras is now one of Ibiza’s most talked about sunset destinations after decades of being a closely guarded local secret. These days, it’s a must-visit for holidaymakers, especially on Sundays when the island’s drumming community come together for the iconic sunset experience that is like no other. For swimming in crystal clear waters, sunbathing on white sands or lunching in the chic Elements restaurant – Benirras is the best!

XUCLAR

Cala Xuclar is one of the dreamiest beaches on the island. A small cove in the north of the island, the water here is ideal for snorkelling and other family activities with rocks around the side which are perfect jumping platforms as well as providing stunning walks around the cliff. As well as the spectacular natural surroundings, there is also a lovely little chiringuito which serves completely delicious fresh fish and cocktails to make your trip even better…

CALA COMTE

Cala Comte is a fabulous spot in the South of the island embedded into the cliffs with options to sit on the slabs of rock that jut out into the emerald water or on the soft sand beach. This is another outrageous sunset spot and we would especially recommend sitting in the restaurant that overlooks the beach and the ocean, Sunset Ashram, where music plays and the good times roll! Enjoy long relaxed days in this truly beautiful and authentic Ibiza destination.

ACCOMMODATION:

CAN TALIAS

Can Talais is a haven of peace and serenity, surrounded by hills and pine forests just above the picturesque village of San Carlos. This rural boutique hideaway is a family friendly paradise where kids will gather everlasting memories of the rustic pool, the encircling nature and the friendly animals. A legendary romantic escape, take in the magical colours from sunrise to sunset, the bright starry nights and the stunning moonlit sea for the best possible stay on the island…

CAS GASI

Cas Gasi is a boutique hotel that reflects the rural charm of its exceptional location in the heart of Ibiza’s countryside. Visitors in search of a peaceful holiday hideaway, removed from the hustle and bustle of Ibiza, will revel in the delightful scenery of this small luxury hotel. The beautiful old country house dates back to 1880 and is named after the family who owned it for generations, giving it a home-away-from-home atmosphere with its traditional Ibicencan architecture whilst maintaining a chic and elegant interior – the perfect combination in our eyes!

LAS BRISAS

Las Brisas is a ‘small, charming and luxurious’ four star hotel sitting on the Es Porroig cliff top, overlooking the one and only bay of Es Cubells. The quiet location along with its colourful and Mediterranean-style decor give the hotel an attractive and very personal touch with various rooms set around a landscaped courtyard which combine colour with original oriental touches to create a unique atmosphere that we simply adore. At dusk make your way down to the pool bar to enjoy the wonderful sunset with wineglass in hand next to someone special…

We hope that this helps you to find your perfect authentic Ibiza experience – happy holidays!
